Every now and then you get something cool in the mail.

Every now and then you get something cool in the mail, and it just brightens your entire day. Last week when I was getting onto the bus I did something stupid. I dropped a Canadian coin I was given back when I was in high school into the coin slot. I half expected to never see it again. But after writing a letter to the county transit concern, and dropping it into a coin slot.

What can I say, stamps are exspensive.

Either way I got my coin back in the mail today, along with letter saying they this is something they don’t normally do.

The Stupid Hurts Seal!

So here is the story behind the seal. It has to do with this sign.
careful now

I found this sign on a beach in Ireland. Truthfully it was one of the best find of my whole trip.

Never Put Anything Online That You Would Not Want On The News!

It is a simple rule of thumb and one I usually try to stick to. I am going to let my special guest blogger Sarah tell this one. I was just along for the ride.

I called my dad and step mom in California to wish them a Happy Easter. After a few minutes of chatting I ask them if they got the pictures I sent them of Court and I camping. They say yes and ask if I’ve sent that email to anyone else. I tell them no, was something wrong with it? Well come to find out, where I had thought that I sent 3 very clean pictures of us sitting around the campfire, I had actually sent some 160 or so pictures of our camping trip…… most of those being the naughty ones. All I could say was “Oh my god” over and over again. Thank god they were cool enough to say “shit happens don’t worry about it.” But I’m still mortified.

But they do have breakfast buffets!

I think the culture shock from landing in Florida is finally starting to wear off. When I first got here, this place seemed a lot more alien than Germany did at first. Unfortunately for me I live in the tourist sector of town, which means everything has mouse ears on it, and I am miles away from anything useful like a library. Sadly it means I also pay tourist prices for food, if you want to get laughed at go to a McDonald’s here and ask to see the dollar menu. My buddy Cherry and I have been hitting the free breakfasts at the local hotels for the past two weeks to help keep cost down, as well as crashing hotel hot tubs just because they are there.

Sad part is, in the short time I have been here I am already getting really antsy to start traveling again. I don’t think I am burned out on my job yet, but the voices that are telling me to pack up and hit the road again are getting really loud. I have had to talk myself out of hitchhiking out of town a few times already. Unfortunately if i want to continue eating everyday on the next leg of my trip I need to wait five more weeks before I head out. Granted I could possibly leave sooner if I decided to work double shifts, but since I feel half dead right now from a 9 hour day preceded by a 14 hour day. It just doesn’t seem very realistic.

At this point I am pretty much committed to cycling across country solo next, I buy my bike next week and I already have a route semi-plotted out. I just need to sit down and double check it before I end up with an unpleasant reminder that stupid hurts.
